Gillian Bristow is Professor of Economic Geography at the School of Geography and Planning, Cardiff University, and also Dean of Research for the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Her research interests focus on regional economic development and policy, and much of her recent work has focused upon the concept of regional economic resilience.
She recently led an ESPON funded project examining the economic resilience of regions to the 2008 global economic crisis, and is currently editing two books exploring the resilience concept in relation to both theory and practice. She is also currently engaged in interdisciplinary work which seeks to develop and enhance our understanding of the role of human agency, choice and innovation in developing resilience in social systems.
