The observed increasing divergence in regional performances (OECD, 2016) have found very diverse and sometimes contradictory explanations.
The objective of this special session is to provide a better understanding of how regions may generate specific resources to sustain competitive advantage.
More precisely, the participants will discuss regional alignment- the assumption that synergistic interactions between scientific, technological, and industrial specialization contribute to regional divergence. Regional alignment facilitates fruitful interactions between economic agents, thus supporting local economic development.
